Our Stylish Hallway (well...getting there)

Following on from my previous post on stylish hallways (featuring a picture of our then blank canvas hallway) here's a pic of our new to us, antique hall console with a few bits displayed on top.  The Juju is from Tabletonic and the bag is by Orla Kiely , a Stylish Irish designer I'm very proud of.

In praise of: Jennifer Aniston's Style

Flicking through a magazine at the nail salon today, I came across a recent photo of Jennifer Aniston and remembered how much I like her style.  Here are ten of my favourite, daytime Jennifer outfits.  Scarves are a key accessory for Jen and she always has great jeans. The killer bod helps of course.  Note to self: Go running more!

In praise of: Suzanne Kasler

I recently came across Suzanne Kasler's work in her book Suzanne Kasler: Inspired Interiors and ever since, I'm a big fan of the casual elegant interiors that she creates.  Seems I'm not alone as Elle Decor named Suzanne in their list of top 30 A-list designers last year.  It's difficult to pick my absolute favourite Suzanne Kasler interior of all those pictured in her book but if I absolutely had to, I think this might be it.

Goal setting...the stylish way

Look at the little piece of eye candy that made it's way into my inbox this morning courtesy of the kikki.K e-letter.  This little treat is just the thing to spur me into setting some goals before January ends and I decide it's too far into the year to bother!  It's split into five different sections and lo and behold, the categories are just as I'd come up with myself - it's meant to be!  Sure, a regular notebook pilfered from work (if one were capable of such a heinous crime!) might do just as well but it wouldn't be quite so neat and nice and well, pretty, now would it?

Please do enter - stylish hallways

To say our hallway is a blank canvas right now is a bit of an understatement (excuse the strange photo angle - himself likes to get 'artistic' with the camera sometimes).  As I await the delivery of the hall table I bought this week, I thought I'd share some of the inspiration for stylish hallways that I've found through a trawl of the web.

A good start...

... is half the work, or so the old Irish proverb goes (Tosach maith, leath no hoibre).  I should print it out and have it framed and put up where I can see it everyday!  I love being in the development phase of something and I eventually get to the finishing part, but starting something new isn't really in my comfort zone.

Never mind.  It's the beginning of a new year, the traditional time for beginning new endeavours so I'll grit my teeth, put aside my desire for perfectionism and my fears of not getting everything right and just so, and take the plunge into the world of blogging.

Because there are a few things I'd like to chronicle.  For starters, there's the ups and downs of the great villa reno.  A little over a year since we bought it, there's lots to do and all going to plan, 2011 will be a busy year on that front.  There's also my thoughts and ideas on living a stylish life.  For as long as I can remember, I've been collecting images, articles and other snippets that define and refine my version of what stylish living is and what it looks like.  I'm looking forward to sharing those.  Then there's just plain, old life and my musings on it.  Three years ago, himself and I moved to Auckland from our homeland on the far side of the globe and the adventure continues.

So there.  I'm not sure it's a good start but it's a start.  Time perhaps to click the 'Publish' tab.
